Church History

It was founded before 1712. It closed before 1979.

Closed. Registers survive from 1725 and are deposited at the Berkshire Record Office. BTs pre-date these registers and survive from 1699 and are held at the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre. Avington hamlet is now part of the parish of Kintbury and the church is privately owned. It is very small, ancient and almost wholly unspoiled.  It is still used for services, but only rarely. To visit, enquire at the nearby cottages for a key. More information about this church may be available from Church History, by clicking on the church name above and/or on the place name at the top of this page.
