The obituary was read at the Association’s July 1905 Princetown meeting. A potted biography of Mr J.R. Gulson appears in the Cambridge University Alumni, 1261-1900. Although not mentioned in his obituary, Mr Gulson was an important contributor to the study of Law as author of a text still today widely available in reprint: J.R. Gulson, The Philosophy of Proof: In its relations to the English Law of Judicial Evidence, London: Routledge and sons, 1905. The text had a second edition in 1923. An insightful review of his book is in the Columbia Law Review, Vol. 8, No. 4 (Apr., 1908), pp. 331-333. The obituary, from a copy of a rare and much sought-after journal can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. These books, on which copyright has expired, are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers
