The Obituary was read at the Association’s July 1920 Totnes meeting. There is a reference to Mr Wethey in the 32nd (1907) Annual Report of the Imperial Bank of Canada, Toronto. His name also appears on the List of Shareholders of the Chartered Banks of Canada, on 31st December 1900. Further, Mr Wethey is credited with compiling a document  titled “Samuel Pedlar Manuscript” concerning the founder of Pedlar People, a prominent Oshawa (Ontario) industrial establishment, and relating to the period between 1790 and 1904.,This obituary, from a copy of a rare and much sought-after journal can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Mr. Wethey who joined the Association in 1900 was born at Exeter on 6th July, 1840. In 1863 he went to Canada and there obtained a post in the Imperial Bank of Canada, at Toronto, from which he retired in 1910. Returning to England in 1911 he settled at Shaldon, near Teignmouth, where he died on 6th February, 1920, after a painful illness extending over four years.
