Topographical Dictionary of England, Samuel Lewis - 1859

STAFFORD (CHRIST CHURCH): A church of which the first stone was laid by the Earl of Harrowby, in November, 1837, has been endowed with £1300, vested in the three and a half per cent, consols., by the present rector, in whom and his representatives the patronage is vested; it is a neat structure, containing 600 sittings, of which 300 are free.
