In 1868, the parish of Kilmihil contained the following places:

"KILMIHILL, a parish in the barony of Clonderalaw, county Clare, province of Munster, Ireland, 9 miles W.N.W. of Kildysert, its post town. It is about 6 miles square. The surface is mountainous and boggy. The streams Creegh and Doonbeg flow through the parish. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Killalee, value with Kilfarboy, £259, in the patronage of the bishop. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to those of Kilmurry and Clonderalaw. There are two hedge-schools. Fairs are held on the 19th May, 8th July, and 28th September.
