The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Killowen contained the following places:

"KILLOWEN, a parish in the barony of Kinalmeaky, county Cork, province of Munster, Ireland, 4 miles W. of Bandon, its post town. It is barely a mile in length and the same in breadth. The soil is good on the whole. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Cork, value £100. Public worship is performed at a private house. There is a Protestant Sunday-school."
