The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Magheracross contained the following places:

"MAGHERACROSS, a parish in the baronies of Lurg and Tirkennedy, county Fermanagh, province of Ulster, Ireland, 6 miles N.E. of Enniskillen. It contains the village of Ballinamallard, which is its post town. The surface includes a considerable proportion of bog. It is traversed by the road from Enniskillen to Omagh. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Clogher, value £382, in the patronage of the bishop. The church was erected about 70 years ago, partly by the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, and partly by private contribution. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to those of Derryvullan and Trory. Here are a Wesleyan Methodist meeting-house, two Sunday and several day schools. Jamestown is the principal residence."
