In 1868, the parish of Killinane contained the following places:

"KILLINANE, a parish in the barony of Iveragh, county Kerry, province of Munster, Ireland, 5 miles N.N.E. of Cahirsiveen, its post town. This parish is 7 miles long by 5 broad. It is situated along the shore of Dingle Bay, near Valentia Harbour. The surface is mountainous and rocky. The river Ferta traverses the interior in making its way to Valentia Harbour, and the coast is indented by several small creeks, of which Kells and Lough Key are the principal. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ardfert and Aghadoe, value with Cahir, £402, in the patronage of the crown. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to those of Cahir and Glenbeagh. There are two day schools."
