Church History

This area of Clonenagh was once a large ecclesiastical site, founded by St Fintan in around 548. The original structures were destroyed by Vikings in 838, and plundered again by the Danes in 937. The remains are of the 15th century church which, towards the end of its life, was used as a Protestant church.
