The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Emlagh contained the following places:

"EMLAGH, (or Imlagh), a parish in the barony of Lower Kells, county Meath, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles N.E. of Kells, its post town. It is situated on the rivers Borers and Blackwater, and has a fair soil, with a tract of bog. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Meath, value with Newtown, £359, in the patronage of the crown and bishop.
