The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Rataine contained the following places:

"RATAINE, a parish in the barony of Lower Navan, county Meath, province of Leinster, Ireland, 3 miles N. of Trim, its post town. The surface mainly consists of good soil, and is traversed by the road from Bective-Bridge to Athboy. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Meath, value, with Ardbraccan, £684, in the patronage of the crown. It is joined to Dunderry in the Roman Catholic arrangement."
