The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868
In 1868, the parish of Clonbeg contained the following places:"CLONBEG, a parish in the barony of Clanwilliam, in the county of Tipperary, province of Munster, Ireland, 4 miles to the S.W. of Tipperary. It lies at the foot of the Galtee mountains, on the river Aperlow. The surface is boggy and mountainous; the highest ground being on Galtee-More, which rises 3,015 feet above the sea-level. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Cashel, Emly, and Waterford, value with Killaldriff, £608, in the patronage of the bishop. The neighbourhood abounded in deer some years ago. Here is a police station, and to the S.W. of the parish stand the ruins of More Abbey. The principal residences are Ballywire, Castlereagh, Woodville, and Ballincourty."
