In 1868, the parish of Inch contained the following places:"INCH, a parish in the baronies of Gorey and Arklow, counties Wexford and Wicklow, province of Leinster, Ireland, 4 miles S.W. of Arklow. Gorey is its post town. The surface has some mountain, but the greater part is well cultivated. It is about 3 miles long by 2 broad. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Dublin, value with another, £374, in the patronage of the archbishop. The church was built in 1831 by means of a loan from the late Board of First Fruits. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Kilgorman. There are a parish and three private schools. St. Austin's and Ballyfad are the principal residences. A collision took place here between James II.'s and William III.'s troops after the battle of the Boyne. Chalybeate springs occur in several places."
