The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Derwen contained the following places:

"DERWEN, a parish in the hundred of Ruthin, in the county of Denbigh, 4½ miles S.W. of Ruthin. It is situated at the source of the river Clwyd, and contains Derwen, Dyfanedd, and Ysgeifiog. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of St. Asaph, value £415, in the patronage of the Bishop of St. David's. In the churchyard is a handsome stone cross. The charities amount to £13 per annum."
