In 1868, the parish of Welsh St Donats contained the following places:
"WELSH ST. DONAT'S, a parish in the hundred of Cowbridge, in the county of Glamorgan, 2 miles N.E. of Cowbridge. It is situated at the source of the river Ely. The living is a curacy annexed to Llanbleddian.
