KNOCKANURE

In 1868, the parish of Knockanure contained the following places:

"KNOCKANURE, a parish in the barony of Iraghticonnor, county Kerry, province of Munster, Ireland, 4 miles N.E. of Listowel, its post town. There is a good deal of bog and waste land. The river Feale flows through the S., and the road from Listowel to Rathkeale traverses the interior. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ardfert and Aghadoe, value with Listowel, £335. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Listowel. There are two hedge-schools. Riversdale is the chief seat."
