Church History

This church is still open (January 2015). The current minster is Rev. David Campbell. It was founded in 1804 or 1811 (conflicting data) and the building on the present location was first constructed in 1820 with a significant renovation in 1900 (they have just completed a minor renovation). Bethel is said to have been the first Baptist chapel in Flintshire (per Rowland Tennant, local historian and documented in the book: A History of Holywell and Greenfield). Virtually all of the history of this chapel has been lost (no records) and the minster is attempting to research through records on file in Hawarden (none located yet) and newspaper articles.
